Who we are?

Principle Co is a progressive campaigning agency, involved with some of Australia’s most influential election, advocacy and issue-based campaigns. From the federal election through to the marriage equality plebiscite – you’ll find our team working hard to create smart and effective solutions that make Australia better for all.

We do everything from top level strategy, comms and messaging, branding – down to execution of tech and creative. You’ll be joining us to help build all sorts of things – from large scale organisational websites and campaign-focused microsites to online web applications and interactive experiences which help people understand complex issues.

We work across a variety of platforms and coding languages depending on project needs, so versatility is key.  Additionally, our clients look to us for guidance on a broad range of technical issues they face, which requires a helpful, problem-solving attitude.


You’ll need…

  • A high degree of competency with HTML5, CSS3, Javascript and PHP.  Additional languages preferred, such as Node.js.
  • Experience building WordPress sites, including theme development.  Bonus points for experience developing WordPress plugins
  • Some experience with development on other modern CMS’s desired, such as Drupal, Joomla, NationBuilder, etc.
  • Competency with SQL type databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
  • A passion for responsive development practices, including the use of responsive frameworks such as Bootstrap.
  • A working knowledge of SCSS and jQuery
  • Experience with CRMs or marketing/campaigning tools, such as SalesForce, NationBuilder, Action Network, Engaging Network, MailChimp, etc.
  • Familiarity with design software related to the development cycle, such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Xd, Adobe Illustrator or, GiMP
  • The ability to develop bulletproof email templates and test them across multiple email clients with MailChimp/Litmus
  • Understanding of UX and a passion for putting people at the centre of your work
  • Strong attention to detail


Nice to Have

  • System administration experience, such as managing hosting environments, mail servers, domains, DNSs, etc.
  • An eye for design, and the ability to notice when an design element will not translate well to web
  • Experience in data science and statistics


The Mechanics

We’re flexible. Ideally this is a full time role but we’re open to part time (3-4 days a week) if you’ve got a side hustle or want to spend more time with family. 

Salary range is $90,000 – $100,000 per annum plus Super depending on experience.

We’re based in Sydney, Melbourne, and Newcastle so it’d be great if you were too. Let’s talk regardless, we have great slack banter and our team is comfortable with members working remotely. 

You’ll report to our Managing Director, and work closely with the rest of our small and awesome team who develop, design, strategise, and copy-write to build a better world.
